Kelman - Is This How It Ends? / Postcards. This is an excellent single but so it should be; Kelman were formerly Baptiste, a really good live band in London a couple of years ago. They self-released an album ‘Loneliness Has Kept Us Alive’ last October and this is the first (download-only) single since then. It’s a doomed love song that could have come from the Velvet Underground’s third album, a seductive drone-rock occasionally lightened by a clever lyric. On the other side, 'Postcards' is a satisfying torrent of organ-swaddled melancholia. Both are as excellent as their lack of label is surprising.
